Fonio is the oldest authentic African grain. It grows on poor sandy soil with little water on the edge of the Sahara. The
growth of the grain is not only practical to consume, but also prevents desertification and erosion. Women's cooperatives
clean and process the fonio, cook and dry it and sell it on
the market or the surplus for export. The high nutritional
values with essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins make it a complete basic food. Bring water to a boil, then add
fonio or add boiling water to the fonio. For 50g fonio, you
need 130ml of water. Boil for 2-3 minutes until the water is
absorbed. Let stand covered for 10 minutes and loosen with
fork before serving. Can replace any other grain or rice. As
porridge for breakfast. As couscous, in bread, pastries and
burgers. As an oven dish and salads or in soup.
