Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a species of flowering plant in the asparagus family. The root and fruit of this plant is processed into a widely used extract in Ayurvedic medicine. Shatavari literally means ‘she who possesses a hundred husbands’ and is traditionally regarded as the ‘Queen of herbs’. As a herbal supplement, it is often used for female discomfort. Think of menopause* or discomfort around the menstrual cycle*.
